We are celebrating Women in Aviation week (March 6-11, 2023) and we thought we would have some fun with the leading ladies of VP Aviation! In this article we will dig deeper into our Director of Compliance, Kelly King and her career in aviation.
Why did you initially choose to work for VP Aviation?
Working for VP Aviation allows me to work from home which proved to be most beneficial when my mother was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy and required my full-time care. I don’t know what I would have done had I not been employed with VPA at that time, GOD sure knows how to provide paths in our lives that help us in the most challenging moments.
What is the funniest thing that has happened in your aviation career?
Back when I was a recruiter, I was making calls and I happened to call someone who was currently working for the company I was AND was actually on site at the time. I was so focused on getting candidates reeled in that I didn’t recognize the name of the person I was calling. It was so embarrassing after saying my spiel when he said, What? I’m already working for the company.
Who is your hero and why?
My husband. He is the most knowledgeable person in aviation that I know. He has always worked so hard and it’s impressive to know that he started out as an Aircraft Technician following his Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps. Over the years he climbed the aviation ladder to his current position of Sr. Vice President of Aviation Services.
Tell us something about yourself you are most proud of.
My longevity with VPA is the longest that I have been with a company. Tom Ventresco, VP Aviation Founder and CEO, is one of the best people you could work for! He has put together a pretty great team that has grown VPA into being one of the most competitive companies in the aviation industry.
